the Eighth Sign of the Zodiac

Scorpio as the Ascendant Sign in Vedic Astrology (Vrishika in Sanskrit)

In Vedic Astrology, Scorpio, like Aquarius, is an Astrological Sign ruled by two Entities, specifically Mars and Kethu (the South Lunar Node), which share rulership over this Constellation. It is a fixed Water Sign.

It is a particular Astrological Sign in the sense that those born under this Zodiac Constellation are often difficult to understand and tend to escape ordinary ways of reasoning.

As for the lunar nodes Rahu and Kethu, there is relatively little literature on them. Understanding their influence in a Natal Chart requires care, sensitivity and a certain amount of experience. There is a mythological story concerning these two Entities, and the analytical factors related to them, used by most Indian astrologers, are based on it. I discuss this in the section dedicated to the Planets.

The Sign of Scorpio cultivates a very strong and personal sense of justice, which at times is applied without asking anyone’s permission. The arrangement of the various Planets and Houses in the Natal Chart can accentuate this characteristic or “dilute” it.

Those born under the Sign of Scorpio are ethically correct but do not always contemplate the spiritual point of view, even though this Astrological Sign has every possibility of doing so.

Surgery is one of the characteristics of the planet Mars which we find well developed here, or in any case with strong possibilities for growth.

A remarkable intuition dwells in this Zodiac Constellation. If they are not properly guided as children, those born under the Sign of Scorpio may develop uncontrolled escapes into worlds of imagination which can then flow into magic; intuitively, that is, they seek all possible points of access to it.

Those who have the Sign of Scorpio at the Ascendant have a strong need for physical contact. If their energies are not managed by conscious and well-prepared parents, they may become violent or in any case suffer greatly behind the outward appearance. From childhood they need to be guided by parents with a living, intelligent and selfless love.

All the planets and stars revolve around the Sun because it is the central pivot.

You are a pivot around which the events of your life revolve.

As above, so below….

Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology, is a tool from ancient India, a Wisdom from another Time used for modern counselling, to understand one’s Path, where one comes from, where one is going and… why.
