The Astrologer Sama
In the Italian registry my name is Stefano, but since the early 2000s I have had an additional name: Samadarshana — often shortened to Sama, the name by which I am known in India and among Amma’s groups in Italy.
I am a Vedic Astrologer, a Reiki Master and a student of Sri Aurobindo.
Long ago, I studied Theatre extensively as an instrument of growth, expression and self-knowledge. I was an actor and I devised and conducted Self-Evolution Courses, described in the section dedicated to Courses.
I have been studying Vedic Astrology, or Jyotisha, the Astrology of Ancient India, since 2007.
I had an American Teacher who usually lives in an Ashram in the United States; subsequently, during the years in which I lived in India, I was able to draw from the true Source, receiving as a Gift a Knowledge that I carry in my heart every day.
Auroville, India, the Ashrams and Other “Flashes”
I lived for several years in Auroville, a secular community in which life is fundamentally based on Voluntary Service.
I also visited several times the Ashram of Mātā Amṛtānandamayī Devī, in Amritapuri — known as Amma, the Guru who embraces the world — and the Ashram of Sri Aurobindo in Pondicherry, where I often went to meditate at the Samadhi.
During the last two years I spent in India, I attended Bodhi Zendo, a Zen centre where, in addition to traditional meditation, walking meditation is also practised.
Before moving to India, during the 2000s I worked as a volunteer in Italy with Green Friends, Amma’s groups and Sri Aurobindo groups.
They are all pieces of my Path, from which I later moved on.
Those were years of Study, Research and Introspection, but my deep thirst for Knowledge and for the Search for Truth pushed me to continue further.
During the 2000s I was also president of the association Evoluzione Dharma.
Yoga
I began practising Hatha Yoga in the early 1990s, in Rome, with Maestro Furlan.
I subsequently continued along my own Path, through the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and the Bhagavad Gita.
I later came to know Amma, whom I met many times in her Ashram, in Italy and in various parts of India. I practised IAM.
Today I no longer follow any Teacher, but every day I listen to my own Consciousness.
Other Experiences Along My Path
I also have a past as a manager, which I have transmuted into a profoundly different Reality.
A past in which I administered and managed various companies.
I have given conferences on Vedic Astrology and have been a Coach in Self-Evolution Courses.
All these experiences, although belonging to different moments of my life, form part of the Path that has brought me here.
The Path of a Westerner
I am Italian and therefore a Westerner.
My Path as a Westerner, observed and lived through the Ancient Indian Culture from which Vedic Astrology descends, has been for me a Source of Inspiration, Meditation and Guidance.
It has been so through Jyotisha, through the Teachers whom I met personally and through the Teachers whose Words I studied and meditated upon, but whom I was unable to meet.
Among these, for example, Sri Aurobindo, who left the body in 1950, and Shri Ramana Maharshi, in whose Ashram I meditated many times.
India has been a Source for me.
A Place from which to draw upon an Ancient Knowledge, even though over the years it has been changing profoundly as a result of strong Western penetration and the subsequent worldwide upheaval that began in 2020.
In 2018 I left the village of Auroville, in India, where I was living, to begin another adventure: first in Europe, then in Africa and later once again in Europe.
All this represents for me a Seed to offer.
