Stone for the South Lunar Node Kethu (or Ketu, as it is often written) in Jyotish

Cat's Eye

In Vedic Astrology, the Rahu-Kethu axis is well known for the influence it exerts in the area of the Natal Chart where it is located. Rahu and Kethu were a serpent, that is, a single demonic entity. This serpent was discovered by the Luminaries while drinking Amrita, the nectar of immortality. In retaliation, it was cut in two, but remained alive despite being divided into two parts, because it had drunk the nectar.

The Stone attuned to Kethu, the South Lunar Node or the tail of the Serpent, is the so-called “Cat’s Eye”.

There are two types: a milky smoky-grey variety, and another transparent green variety that can range towards a light yellow.

It is an opaque Stone of “warm constitution”. Kethu, the Shadow Planet as it is defined in Vedic Astrology, is similar to the planet Mars in its hot temperament, that is, in the fiery quality it can activate in a Person. Ketu indicates spiritual illumination when well placed in the Natal Chart, as well as detachment from material or worldly desires.

It is an indicator of occult sciences and intuition, and pushes towards the path of Moksha, that is, Liberation from material bonds.

Kethu, like Rahu, is not a Planet in space but a mathematical point created by the intersection of the Moon’s orbit around the Earth with the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.

A critical position of this mathematical point of the Universe called Kethu (I remind you that Kethu is not a physical Planet) indicates very demanding situations to face and recurring unpleasant dreams. Together with Rahu, it can be involved in conjunctions and complex configurations (Yoga) that severely test one’s commitment in life, such as Sarpa Dosha in general, the so-called “Curses of the Serpent”.

This too is a Stone that must be worn with great care, and it is advisable to try it for a few days while carefully observing what happens. Usually, three days are sufficient.

It is not easy to find in good quality because of the limited quantity available.
